Teeth are calcified white structures found in our mouth. It is used in breaking down food. Although children don’t have their permanent set of teeth yet, it is important to take care of their baby teeth. Baby teeth or what is often called deciduous, milk or temporary teeth is the first set of teeth that falls off eventually and replaced by a permanent set. As your child grows, his baby teeth will fall off one by one until all of them are replaced with permanent teeth. This usually begins as your child enters pre-school age. It may be earlier for some especially if their baby teeth are not taken cared of. Even if baby teeth are just temporary, special attention to care should be given. Your child’s temporary teeth will determine the condition of his permanent teeth in the future. It is recommended to teach your child how to his teeth. Brushing should be done twice a day, in the morning and at night before your child retires to bed.
Aside from taking care of your child’s teeth, special care should also be given your child’s gums. There’s a lot of things you can do to keep your children’s gums healthy. By keeping your child’s gums healthy, certain gum diseases can be avoided, thus preventing teeth loss. In addition, it is better for you to take your children to the dentist at least once every six months.
