Myths and Facts about Hair

Caring for your hair, you have to know first which is myth and which one is fact. Here are some considerations about it.

Myth: Regular trimming makes hair grow faster

Fact: “Hair grows about 1.3 cm per month, no matter how you cut it or not,” said John Barrett, owner of the John Barrett Salon in New York City. According to him, the hair will probably grow slightly faster during the dry season, but this has nothing to do with cutting techniques. It is the hormones in the body that accelerate growth – a little bit.

Myth: Stress causes hair fall

Fact: Hair we generally will fall off, 50-120 strands per day. But you can experience more loss when you experience stress due to successive major life change, such as low breakup, job loss, or recent major surgery. According to Gerome Litt, MD, assistant professor of dermatology in the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, other causes of hair loss are pregnancy or antibiotics consumption. But after a few weeks, hair will grow back.

Myth: Flitting shampoo makes hair look healthier

Fact: It seems so, but experts doubt it. “Hair can not distinguish between brands (shampoo) or how to tolerate all the products,” says Philip Kingsley, hair and scalp expert from London. “Shampoo your favorites will work the same way anyway, from time to time.”
If you ate greasy hair, and use styling products that contain wax, you should use a clarifying shampoo once every two weeks to remove the residuals.
